AFN Bundles & Subscriptions by AFN Digital

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Subscriptions in AFN Bundles & Subscriptions are native: the app creates your selling plans and Shopify runs checkout, stores payment methods, and processes every charge. That native foundation is what makes the app reliable, and it also means the app inherits the platform rules Shopify applies to every subscription app (including all of our competitors). We list them here so there are no surprises.

What Shopify's platform doesn't support for subscriptions

  • Local payment methods can't pay for subscriptions. Methods like iDEAL, Klarna, and Sofort authorize a single payment only. Recurring billing needs a reusable payment method Shopify can vault: credit/debit cards, Shop Pay, or PayPal Express.
  • Draft orders can't contain subscription items. Subscriptions start from your online store checkout, not from manually created draft orders.
  • B2B checkout doesn't support subscriptions.
  • "Buy X get Y" discounts don't combine with subscriptions. Percentage and fixed-amount discounts work as usual.
  • Sales channels are limited to where checkout supports selling plans: your Online Store, the Shop app, and custom storefronts. Third-party marketplace channels don't support subscription purchases.
  • Orders with subscription items have restricted order editing. Changes to a subscription (products, quantities, discounts, dates) are made on the subscription contract, in the app's admin dashboard or the customer portal, not by editing the renewal orders themselves.

What this means for you

These constraints apply equally to every subscription app on Shopify: they are platform rules, not app limitations. What the app does differently: bundles and subscriptions are handled natively in one app, with real order lines for every bundle component, so you don't need a separate subscription app on top.
