Overview

AFN Variant Linker ("the App") is a Shopify app developed by AFN Digital that links separate Shopify products together and displays them like variants on the storefront. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

What Data We Collect

  • Store information - your store domain and installation status, collected during Shopify OAuth to identify your store and manage your subscription.
  • Shopify session data - access tokens, admin user name, and email, required for API access and session management. Stored securely in our database.
  • Product page views - anonymous event data including product ID, device type (desktop/mobile/tablet), and timestamp. No customer personally identifiable information (PII) is collected.
  • Variant link clicks - anonymous event data including product ID, group handle, source product ID, device type, and timestamp. No customer PII is collected.
  • Support requests - name, email, category, subject, message, and your current plan, submitted voluntarily by the merchant when contacting support.
  • Shopify metafields and metaobjects - the App writes link group definitions, product swatch colors, and display settings to your store's Shopify metafields and metaobjects. This data is stored on Shopify's infrastructure and is owned by you.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Customer personal information (no names, emails, addresses, or payment info)
  • Browsing history outside the store
  • Cookies on the storefront
  • IP addresses or user agent strings

How We Store Your Data

All data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database (encrypted at rest). Our application runs on isolated cloud infrastructure. All data transmission uses TLS/SSL encryption.

Data Retention

Analytics data (page views, link clicks) is retained for the duration of your installation. When you uninstall AFN Variant Linker, all your data - including sessions, analytics, support requests, and store records - is automatically deleted via our GDPR webhook handler. No data is retained after uninstallation.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or a lawful request such as a subpoena or court order.

GDPR Compliance

We comply with GDPR requirements. As a merchant, you can request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting us. Upon app uninstallation, all data is automatically purged through Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks (shop/redact, customers/redact, customers/data_request). We do not store any end-customer personal data.
